When to go?
With its Mediterranean climate, Venice can normally be visited all year round. However, we recommend avoiding the winter period from December to March, when the cold and damp can make visits unpleasant. From April to September, temperatures are optimal, and the sun shines magnificently on the palaces and historic buildings - but this period also sees large crowds of tourists. In October and November, the atmosphere certainly cools down, but tourists gradually desert the City of the Doges, making it much more pleasant to visit than in summer.
