Portugal
From the Ribatejo to the Silver Coast.
The Ribatejo (Portuguese for Tagus banks) is one of Portugal's most fertile regions, thanks to the great river that flows through it. The marriage of land and river gave rise to fertile farmland with rice paddies, vineyards, olive groves... The Batalha monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is timeless proof of a rich past. The Ribatejo is also the region of Portugal where the art of Portuguese-style bullfighting is most deeply rooted.

A renowned bullfighting and equestrian center, Santarem is the capital of Portuguese bullfighting, along with Vila Franca de Xira, and comes alive during the great feiras and touradas. Its lively alleyways conceal numerous churches with unsuspected interiors. Visit the town. Lunch in a restaurant. On to Tomar, former seat of the Knights Templar, Tomar is a town of great charm, thanks to its artistic and cultural wealth. The best proof of this is the Convent of Christ, one of the most important works of the Renaissance in Portugal. The quiet old town, with its white houses and straight streets, is well worth a visit. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight accommodation.

on the right bank of the Tagus estuary, Lisbon is first and foremost a site of in
comparable beauty, at times disconcerting, but one that has remarkably
stood the test of time. Tasting of the famous Pastel de Belém, Lisbon's my
thique pastry. Typical lunch and afternoon visit and free time for

rée Fado and Folklore dinner in a typical Lisbon restaurant.

Its cooler, slightly mountainous climate once led Portugal's nobility and elite to build sumptuous palaces, extravagant mansions and ornamental gardens here. Escapade along the Sun Coast: Estoril, Cascais and the cliffs of Cabo da Roca. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon. Or Blue Coast: Discover the Costa Azul south of Lisbon or the Blue Coast - located in the Alentejo region with its spectacular winding Setubal coast road running to Arrabida and its 16th-century Franciscan monastery, small fishing villages, sheltered sand dunes and long white beaches from the Troia peninsula to the sheer cliffs and rugged promontory of Cabo Espichel, hilltop castles overlooking Sesimbra, Palmela and Setubal. Visit Roman ruins, medieval castles, Renaissance churches and Baroque palaces, water mills, museums, craft stores...
